Paul Heyman is the Executive Director of WWE RAW. This means he has a substantial amount of clout backstage. Now we will have to see how he pushes those Superstars that he sees a lot of promise in.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the fact that Cedric Alexander’s push has apparently diminished. He is also reportedly dealing with a minor injury, but that was not mentioned.
Paul Heyman might have turned to new projects to get over at this point. Ricochet, Humberto Carrillo, and Buddy Murphy seem to be people who Heyman is currently advocating for backstage.
“Cedric’s problem is that you can only push so many guys at once and he was the guy until he wasn’t the guy and now he’s really not the guy. Now it’s like Buddy Murphy who wasn’t even on the show, Ricochet, and Humberto Carrillo are the guys on the ascent unless they get screwed up like Cedric did when someone decided he shouldn’t be on the ascent and then blame me weeks later.”
This is a very interesting situation as Cedric Alexander clapped back at reports that he lost his push. He did get some big matches in a short period of time, but that didn’t seem to translate into much momentum.
If he is dealing with an injury then that certainly complicates things. We’ll just have to see what’s next for Alexander in WWE, but Paul Heyman seems to have other Superstars that he wants to push as well.
