As announced by Michael Cole during the media event for WWE Crown Jewel, Natalya and Lacey Evans will be squaring off tomorrow night in Saudi Arabia in what will be the first women’s match to ever take place in the country.
Fans are always going to have mixed feelings about WWE’s dealings with Saudi Arabia and rightly so, because they need to be called into question for some of their horrendous actions and human rights violations over the years.
Still, this is a shining light within an otherwise questionable event, and there’s a certain intrigue behind how this match is actually going to go.
As you can see Nattie is pretty honored to be put into a position such as this one, even though it will be against Evans, who she has fought on numerous occasions in what seems to be a neverending feud between the two. This’ll certainly make it feel a little bit more important, though, and that’s all you can really ask for.
Natalya has been scratching and clawing her way to the top of the women’s division for years now, and while she’s had a few tenures at the top of the mountain as champion, she’s never really been positioned as the face of the division.
Whether or not that changes any time soon remains to be seen, but at the very least, this is a wonderful opportunity for her to prove what she can do to what should be a big audience that will be in attendance.
