While she has still been heavily featured on WWE programming over the last few months alongside R-Truth, it’s safe to say that Carmella hasn’t really played a starring role when it comes to the title picture.
It comes not that long after she was SmackDown Women’s Champion herself, and while not everyone enjoyed her time with the belt all too much, it’s great to see that she is (seemingly) head back towards thet op of the card in the women’s division.
She made her presence known last night, coming to the aid of Charlotte Flair in order to fend off an attack from Sasha Banks and Bayley on SmackDown Live.
Following the segment, Carmella felt the need to explain herself in a feud that could easily lead her all the way back to the top of the mountain in the women’s division.
Given the Four Horsewomen’s overwhelming influence on the main titles right now, some fresh meat will do SmackDown Live the world of good. If nothing else, it’ll hold us over until the draft, which is set to mix things up on both brands ahead of the blue brand’s gamechanging move over to FOX.
Carmella has always been better than a lot of fans have given her credit for, and that improvement is a testament to how hard she has worked over the course of the last few years. While she may not take the title off of Bayley when they inevitably square off, she’s certainly give her a good match.
