It’s quite clear to see that Shawn Spears hasn’t been overly pleased since he lost his big match against Cody Rhodes at AEW’s big All Out event, and now, it seems as if he’s got someone to blame the whole thing on, too.
In the midst of the showdown in Chicago, when Tully Blanchard was beating down MJF, the one and only Arn Anderson made his presence known by issuing a trademark spinebuster to Spears in the middle of the ring – leading to one of the biggest pops of the night by a country mile.
It doesn’t seem like that’s going to lead to anything of note, but it definitely provides Shawn with a valid excuse as we look ahead to the start of AEW’s weekly programming in less than a month.
Tony Khan made it pretty clear in the immediate aftermath of All Out that he believed Spears would be sticking around and wrestling more regularly for All Elite Wrestling, which can only be a good thing as the Wednesday Night Wars commence.
Some folks don’t think this heel character suits the man formerly known as Tye Dillinger very well, but regardless of that, it appears as if AEW is prepared to run with it – which could lead to a string of interesting matches down the road.
For now, though, we can just bask in the glory of his match against Cody last weekend because while you may not be the biggest fan of either competitor, they certainly put on one hell of a show.
