AEW’s TNT debut will likely have a lot of eyes on it and they could be looking to do something to really capture the audience’s attention and let them know what All Elite Wrestling is all about. Apparently, that match is Cody Rhodes vs Sammy Guevara.
Cody Rhodes told Bill Apter that right now the very first match will likely be himself and Guevara and he explained how it fits better in a logistical sense because he has to get right back to work and run the show.
“I think, as of looking at it now, I’ll probably be the very first match of the night,” Rhodes said. “Which has a special place in my mind but also thinking from a logistic and planning standpoint, it also makes it very easy for me to go sit down, put the headset on, and help Tony Khan and the other EVPs produce the rest of the show.”
Cody Rhodes is wearing multiple hats with AEW and he must be able to work in a lot of different areas at the same time. So his match might have to go first so he can get right next to Tony Khan backstage. Maybe it’s something in his blood, but it seems as if he was born to do this job in a lot of ways.
