When Sami Callihan went head to head with Tessa Blanchard at Slammiversary earlier this year, it was considered to be a defining moment for IMPACT as the two put on one hell of a show in the main event.
Now, it’s been announced that they will be squaring off once again, as Blanchard attempts to get a win back against Sami – with this also being a number one contender’s match.
Tessa could quite easily go on to hold the world title at some point down the line, but before all of that, she needs to prove that she is capable of picking up a big time win.
Callihan, who is widely considered to be one of the most controversial yet intriguing wrestlers outside of WWE right now, isn’t afraid to ‘poke the bear’ so to speak ahead of their rematch.
It seems unlikely that he is going to be able to get a second win over Tessa, because if he does, then that would seriously derail Blanchard’s chances of becoming a world title challenger. Of course, this could be a long-term build, but this certainly feels like an angle that IMPACT needs to pull the trigger on sooner rather than later.
One of the primary aims in this match, of course, is going to be putting in an even better performance than they did at Slammiversary. While that may be difficult, you can bet that fans are still going to tune in to find out what they can produce.
