All Elite Wrestling could use CM Punk, but as Chris Jericho previously stated they don’t need CM Punk. Still, it would be fun to see the Second City Savior make a return to the ring.

Dave Meltzer discussed CM Punk’s status with AEW during Wrestling Observer Radio. At this point, there doesn’t seem to be much to tell. Because Punk says they’ve communicated via texts while Cody is claiming something a bit differently.

“I don’t know if he’s talked [with AEW] it’s never got to the point of — I don’t want to say where he stands, that’s probably not fair to say, but it’s probably not gotten as far as you’d think in a sense of throwing numbers out. As best I can tell it’s not gotten to the point of throwing numbers out like, ‘Hey this is what we’re gonna offer you.'”

“So that may be accurate, it may be texts. I mean that’s how everything’s done now. It’s weird. I mean it’s how I even freaking contact my friends.”

Meltzer said that negotiations between CM Punk and AEW might not have even gotten off the ground. It’s interesting to note that Cody would reply in such a way to say that maybe Punk was misquoted, but he also received advice not to go that direction in his response.

We’ll have to wait and see if CM Punk ever decides to take AEW up on an offer, but they need to offer him something concrete first before he can accept anything.
