Eric Bischoff is the new Executive Director of SmackDown Live, but he is slow to get started with his new job. As he begins the process of taking on this new role things could be changing eventually, but as he discussed this on 83 Weeks, it will be “an evolution over time.”
Bischoff explained that he was slated to start on July 22nd and no sooner than that. He said that the job responsibilities are going to be so big that it will be impossible to get started anything immediately. Therefore, fans should just be a little bit more patient to see what Eric Bischoff will be able to do.
He hasn’t even attended a production meeting yet, but stated that things will get more tangible this week as he gets started. However, it’s going to take some time to really get rolling.
“My start [with WWE] was never supposed to be before July 22. That was the understanding across the board. And it was reported wrong. Anything written and reported so far has been wrong as far as what my role actually is and will be and what my start date will be.”
“This is such a big job. There is no way that me, or anyone else, is going to walk in and take control of anything, immediately. It’s going to be a long process. It’s going to take time. It’ll be an evolution over time. My process started a little bit this week in terms of integration. It’ll become even more tangible on Tuesday, which will be the first time I’ve attended a production meeting.”
There are a lot of things that Eric Bischoff could be changing about SmackDown Live, but don’t expect to see anything drastic too soon. He is just getting acclimated and it’s not fair to assume that everything will change over night anyway, especially when you have so many moving pieces with a big show like SmackDown Live.
