WWE Smackville was promoting a few matches and most fans figured they would air the entire house show on the WWE Network. That doesn’t seem to be the case now.
Although the company has announce four matches and a concert from Elias for the Nashville house show on the 27th, the actual Smackville special will only include two of those matches and a concert from The Drifter.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Finn Balor for the WWE Intercontinental Title and the WWE Title triple threat match with Kofi Kingston vs Samoa Joe vs Dolph Ziggler is all fans will see on the Smackville one-hour special next Saturday. That is very interesting and it makes us wonder why WWE is airing such a special in the first place.
We’ve heard that WWE was considering the option of running house shows on the WWE Network as a premiere incentive in a higher network tier. This could be further testing of that concept, but for those who were excited to see Bayley and The New Day wrestle on the Smackville special it appears that those will be dark matches only for the fans in Nashville.
The WWE Smackville special is set to air on July 27th starting at 9:00 PM EST on the WWE Network.
