Last night Shinsuke Nakamura was able to capture the Intercontinental Championship from Finn Balor on the WWE Extreme Rules Kickoff Show, in a result that kind of caught a lot of fans off guard – and that’s putting it lightly.
Nakamura hasn’t really been utilised in the best way throughout his time in WWE, with many fans bemoaning the fact that he hasn’t yet been able to capture either the Universal Championship or WWE Championship – despite being given multiple opportunities to do so.
With his win last night, though, it seems as if one fan thought Nakamura had made a bit of history for himself. As you can tell by this reaction from Chris Jericho, that isn’t quite the case.
Courtesy of his recent run with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Y2J is, in fact, the man to have completed this achievement prior to Nakamura’s big win last night.
Chris is the kind of superstar that isn’t afraid to let you know about his past accomplishments because let’s be honest, he’s one of the most decorated wrestlers in the history of the business courtesy of everything he’s been able to do.
At this moment in time he is on the verge of adding to his long list of accolades, as he prepares to go one on one with Hangman Page at All Out for the AEW World Championship. If he can become the first ever holder of that title, he will undoubtedly cement his place in the history books once and for all.
