The Street Profits made a surprising debut on RAW this week. Their appearance was actually spoiled by a mishap in the opening moments of the show, but they are now on the main roster and NXT at the same time.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford’s RAW debut was a Paul Heyman decision. He wants them to help appeal to a younger audience, but they will not be exclusive to any brand right now.
As current NXT Tag Team Champions, they will actually appear on both NXT and RAW at this point. Because NXT doesn’t want to lose another set of champions to the main roster, but Heyman also wanted them on RAW. So a happy medium was reached that will keep the Street Profits quite busy in the process.
From a technical standpoint, this was Heyman asking for them for television, but they are still considered not on Raw, but as NXT talent and will continue to work NXT house shows while doing TV on Mondays.
Ford and Dawkins will most likely transition onto the main roster full-time, but as for right now they won’t be leaving NXT. This could get confusing because NXT tapes so many weeks in advance so it is unavoidable, but hopefully, The Street Profits will help connect to a younger fan base as Heyman envisioned.
