AEW is doing their best to secure a fan base that will follow them to TNT. They obviously need Elite talent in order to get that done, but some people they’ve been using are already signed to another company.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that AEW might not want to use guys under MLW contract once they start on TNT. This includes Jimmy Havoc and MJF. However, Maxwell Jacob Friedman is a very different scenario.
I don’t think once AEW has television they’ll want to use guys under MLW contract, but I also think they’ll make whatever exception they have to for MJF.
Few wrestlers have been able to execute on the microphone and rile a crowd up like MJF. If you add in the fact that he hasn’t been in the pro wrestling business for four years then that makes it even more impressive. AEW is grooming him to be a big star in the company as they probably should at this point.
It is reported that MLW should have no issues about their stars appearing on AEW because it only gives them more notoriety. It will be interesting to see what kind of future both Jimmy Havoc and MJF have in AEW while they’re under MLW contracts.
