Vince McMahon made the decision to place Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman in Executive Director roles in WWE. This was met with plenty of shock backstage.
Dave Meltzer explained during Wrestling Observer Radio that many former Impact Wrestling stars who worked with Bischoff back then were especially shocked about this information.
Things didn’t turn out well at all for Bischoff and TNA, therefore, it makes people wonder if their assumption has been correct all along that Vince McMahon really doesn’t know anything about pro wrestling outside of his own company.
“You know there’s a lot of people who were in TNA that are in WWE — to say that they’re baffled is the understatement of the year. I mean they’re just like rolling their eyes, I mean none of them had a clue either. I mean they can’t even believe it.”
“They’re like, ‘How can someone be so out of touch’ and the thing was and I’ve heard this from a lot of people: ‘Vince really doesn’t know anything about wrestling outside of WWE — AT ALL!’ I mean that’s kinda the conclusion and I’m not just talking about ex TNA guys in that company. I mean that’s been the consensus of people in and around that company across the board. ‘Wow, we know he doesn’t follow wrestling and he doesn’t watch wrestling, but he doesn’t know anything about wrestling anymore outside of his walls.'”
Vince McMahon does live in his own little bubble and that bubble has turned him into a billionaire. Now it looks like that bubble could burst soon enough.
WWE has plenty of money to sustain them, but as Vince McMahon continues to steer the ship — even if he puts people around him with fancy new titles — he might soon find himself running into some rocky waters very soon.
