WWE Stomping Grounds included a lot of moments that dropped big hints about what’s to come. One of those took place during the tag team match where Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn defeated Xavier Woods and Big E.

Dave Meltzer explained on Wrestling Observer Radio why Kevin Owens picked up the pinfall at Stomping Grounds. As it turns out WWE has plans for KO which should excite his fans.

“For the next pay-per-view they advertised Ziggler, Kevin Owens, and Kofi Kingston in a three-way and with Kevin getting a clean pin on Xavier [at Stomping Grounds] that seems like the direction they’re going.”

Elevating Kevin Owens back into the WWE Title picture is best for business. He is a great heel and can really put forth the idea that he can win a big title. As a former Universal Champion, Owens has carried a top title before as a bad guy and could very well do it again.

Therefore, don’t expect for Dolph Ziggler to go away either because it seems as if WWE could be carrying through with their promoted match at WWE Extreme Rules.
