Fans have a lot of questions about what to expect from AEW once they get started. We only have one real event to base our expectation so far and fans were overwhelmingly happy with the end result of Double Or Nothing, but will there be more blood?
The Casino Battle Royale during the Buy In before AEW Double Or Nothing included a spot where a staple gun was used to tack a lit cigarette on Joey Janela’s forehead, but that was as far as they went. Jon Moxley’s upcoming match against Joey Janela has a lot of potential for violence as well.
In fact, Mox’s first post-WWE t-shirt even promoted “Unscripted Violence,” however, AEW might not be getting into the blood bath business despite Dustin Rhodes’ bloody Double Or Nothing performance.
Fightful had a chance to speak with Jimmy Havoc where they asked him what fans can expect from him going forward with AEW. His response was rather interesting considering his history in death matches.
“A lot less blood and a lot less swearing. I think I’ve been told not to swear as much anymore which is really painful for me because I swear a lot without realizing I’m even doing it. I’m British, that’s what we do.”
Havoc commented that it is a very exciting time for pro wrestling now and we have to agree. Once AEW starts on TNT presumably in October, things will really start to hopefully come together and our questions will be answered.
As far as death matches in AEW, the fact that Jimmy Havoc said that we’ll be seeing a lot less blood from him might be a telling sign that The Elite won’t be doing some of those more extreme stunts in the ring.
