AEW has a growing roster full of stars, but there was no need to lock everyone down right away. They still have some time before their television show starts on TNT, but now it looks like two stars’ deals have started.
MJF is not only a great heel, but he has now wrestled his last indie date according to Fightful Select. It was also noted that Joey Janela’s contract officially started at the beginning of this month as well.
MJF has taken his last indie date, and Joey Janela’s official deal started on May 1
As AEW’s assumed TNT start date gets closer we could likely see more contracts become exclusive. It only stands to reason that if AEW is going to push people as top stars they don’t want them going out and risking injury on the indies.
Joey Janela will still be allowed to arrange his Spring Break shows and everyone’s contract appears to be different. However, AEW will probably remain a priority for anyone involved with the company from this point forward.
