WWE now has bigger competition than they’ve faced in the last twenty years. AEW is now a real company with a television show on the way. Their show is set to start in October, but they are already gaining a lot of interest.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio how a number of WWE Superstars, especially from the 205 Live brand are counting down the days until they are able to leave the company at this point. This is one of the main reasons why Stephanie McMahon held a meeting for the NXT roster yesterday before the tapings started.
“I heard that there’s people counting the days there, yeah. A lot of people are counting the days. It’s amazing it’s like the whole AEW coming in and actually doing a really successful show has changed everything.”
We will have to wait and see who leaves WWE next. Mike Kanellis made it pretty apparent that he was waving goodbye yesterday, but there could be plenty more.
As AEW continues to pick up steam, they still won’t have room for everyone who wants to leave WWE, but there are more options than just The Elite for a former WWE Superstar on the indies.
