There have been a lot of great victories in the world of combat sports over the years, and many of them have been upsets. This past weekend we saw another great upset, as Andy Ruiz Jr defeated Anthony Joshua to dethrone him as boxing’s heavyweight king.

The stoppage came in the seventh round, but in truth, Joshua hadn’t been at the races since the third. He knocked down the Mexican underdog in that round, before being knocked down twice himself. It took until the seventh, but AJ was finally defeated – losing his unbeaten record in the process.

Following the fight Ruiz was understandably overjoyed, and he even took it upon himself to throw in a cheeky DX crotch crop – which caught the attention of the WWE Universe.

It’s well known that Triple H is a big boxing fan, to the point where he even walked Floyd Mayweather to the ring a few years back. Since then The Game has appeared at a series of high profile fights, and following this interaction, we wouldn’t be all too surprised to see him pop up at Ruiz’s next encounter.

That ‘encounter’ will almost certainly be a scheduled rematch against Joshua, with his promoter Eddie Hearn all but confirming that they want it to take place in either November or December of this year.

Beyond that, who knows, perhaps WWE will attempt to cash in on Ruiz’s sudden rise to fame and prominence by having him appear on WWE television.
