AEW is not to be avoided anymore. After delivering in a big way with Double Or Nothing the company has their eyes set on more big events to continue their momentum. However, it seems like they are also a very attractive destination for some NXT Superstars as well.
It’s no secret that there are Superstars on the main roster who want out of their contracts. It seems like the family atmosphere of NXT might not be enough to keep those stars in the WWE Performance Center either. NXT contracts are different than WWE deals in some ways with a new contract usually being signed when someone is called up to the main roster. However, some might not want to make it that far now.
Jon Moxley’s interviews have shined a new light on what it is really like to be on the WWE main roster. Therefore, some Superstars might not want to even risk getting lost in the shuffle while they’re contractually obligated to be there. It is getting harder to get over on the main roster and this is becoming a popular mindset within NXT, especially after WWE screwed up Ricochet’s character which was previously thought to be impossible.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that some NXT Superstars are looking to leave for AEW. This might present an interesting situation down the line.
To our knowledge we haven’t heard of an NXT Superstar being offered a main roster deal only to turn it down. After all, that could tack on more time with Vince McMahon’s company. Some people found it very interesting how Adam Cole won the NXT Title a week after AEW Double Or Nothing, especially with his AEW star girlfriend Britt Baker sitting at ringside.
We will have to wait and see how these situations play out because everyone will be different. Eventually we could run into a very interesting circumstance as the pro wrestling landscape continues to evolve.
