Jon Moxley signed with AEW and fans of The Elite all over the world are very glad that he did. Now he is a full-time star for All Elite Wrestling, but he will still get to participate in NJPW and other indie companies as well.
While speaking to Talk Is Jericho, Moxley explained his reasoning for jumping right back into the thick of things. He could have taken a year off to allow his body to heal, but he was ready to go as soon as possible.
This didn’t stop the fact that signing with another corporation was a little bit scary seeing how he was just burned by WWE in a big way.
“You could argue that I should have taken a year off and just healed my body and just rested and everything like that, but physically I feel pretty good. I’m doing the best I can with the month before I step on the gas pedal, but mentally I can’t wait to get started I’m like chomping at the bit!”
“Dude, the first time I heard that like [Cody’s] telling me all this stuff like ‘play music your way’ and I’m like that’s amazing I wanna be a part of that, 100%, like let’s go! I’m with ya let’s take the world on let’s make history.”
“The fact that it was in Vegas it’s just so crazy like the universe was just — cause I didn’t have to go to AEW. I got a bunch of other options, I got a lot of people at the table, you know what I mean?”
“It was a little scary to sign a contract with a corporation. A little scary cause it’s like I just got done with that, but it’s totally different though cause I love this for the boys by the boys, you know what I mean?”
Jon Moxley said the first time he met Tony Khan he realized that he’s the exact opposite from Vince McMahon. He also said that “he’s more of a wrestling fan than Vince is.” Because McMahon loves “sports entertainment” and promoting, but Tony Khan loves wrestling and just loves to talk about wrestling.
Hopefully, Moxley and AEW will be able to produce some fantastic stories down the line. We can only assume that will be the case as Jon Moxley is now officially unhinged.
