After Dustin Rhodes lost to his little brother and laid in the corner bloody and totally defeated, The American Nightmare got back in the ring to address the former Goldust.
Cody extended an offer to tag with Dustin at AEW’s Fight For The Fallen which is a match that Dustin will gladly accept. However, during the media scrum after Double Or Nothing, Dustin Rhodes says that this was not a promo from Cody that he saw coming at all.
“It was a special moment. I had no idea what he was doing when he rolled back in the ring. I was like, ‘Again?’ You know? Not again, please, I’m dead I mean you already killed me. You killed the Attitude Era.”
“He wanted me to be his partner and everybody’s… nothing we did could have messed up anything, man. It was just electric for me. This without a doubt in my 31 years was the most incredible night of my life. It really was.”
Dustin will accept this match with Cody against The Young Bucks as he said “hell yeah, I wanna get a six star match out of the Young Bucks for Dave Meltzer.”
Rhodes followed that up by saying he hopes to get more than a 3 1/2 star rating for his Double Or Nothing war because they “took it back to 1986. I mean emotions were there.”
This is very true and they did take things way back with this match in terms of storytelling and style. If this is a sign of things to come it seems like AEW is going to offer that disenfranchised fan a reason to pay attention to pro wrestling once again.
