Brock Lesnar invaded the Money In The Bank match to become the new Beast In The Bank on Sunday, but WWE had their reasons for making this controversial booking decision.

WWE needs to draw as much attention to their product as possible. An extra boost of attention could help their dwindling ratings in a big way. Therefore, WWE wanted to make sure that people were paying attention and they used Brock Lesnar to accomplish that.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the scripting of the match was done to draw heat to Lesnar after he won the match. The other seven competitors in the contest were going all-out for the entire brutal match then Lesnar got to run in without taking a bump and win the match.

The biggest part to their reasoning was to boost their ratings for RAW the next night and the week to follow where Lesnar is promised to make his decision concerning the Money In The Bank contract.

It was all about a momentary pop and surprise, as well as two weeks of television ratings. The feeling was that the Lesnar surprise would help ratings based on curiosity the next night, which it did.

We will have to wait and see if Brock Lesnar’s appearance on next week’s show will pop another good rating. However, it is expected that he will announce his MITB cash-in will take place at the Super ShowDown in Jeddah against Seth Rollins.

RAW viewership was actually up this week, but if they want to keep the USA Network happy so they don’t pitch more ideas like the 24/7 Title then WWE needs to bring up their numbers.
