There is a lot going on in WWE right now and a number of opinions are flying around backstage. One higher up in the company is reportedly not a fan of two top Superstars on both the main roster and in NXT.
Brad Shepard reports that a high up source in WWE remarked to him that his comments about near-falls in matches being overdone and Becky Lynch’s mass appeal are not far off at all in his opinion. It is also said that this source was never impressed with the work of Becky Lynch, but he especially never saw the appeal in Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa’s epic series of matches.
While speaking with a high level source in #WWE, I received the following feedback on my controversial criticisms of @johnnygargano and @BeckyLynchWWE:
“I love your jabs at Gargano and Becky. I’m sure it’s good for your business to drive everyone mad and does he really have 5 star matches? I’ve never been impressed. I sound old when I say this but a bunch of kickouts after finishes is not 5 stars. I never liked the Ciampa/Gargano series because those matches should’ve ended a dozen times. And yes, both guys are small.”
It is reported that Vince McMahon is taking a lot of suggestions which seems to be watering down WWE’s direction. This could very well be a representation of that kind of opinion.
Although it might not be a popular notion in the IWC, apparently, at least someone in the company isn’t on board with this current direction of pushing The Man and putting on 5 Star matches.
