The WWE Network has practically an endless amount of pro wrestling from WWE history and every other company that WWE was able to buy footage from. In fact, they have plenty of footage that could be coming soon and some of it might be extremely hardcore.
During the 1st quarter investor call, it was noted that the WWE Network plans to relaunch. This could include a different set-up like Netflix, but they are changing providers and this could include a lot of moving things around.
Fightful Select reports that the company has been testing with research surveys for over a year. They seem to be looking at a Netflix-type app with their own WWE touch.
They could also include a social media stream on the top or somewhere in the interface to provide something like Instagram stories or close to it for WWE Superstars and the company.
It is reported that the WWE Network team was “clueless” on the change “as of early this year.”
The company has been working on a new WWE Network since last summer and the “focus was placed on improving the search function.” This is great, but they will probably still not let fans search for Chris Benoit. However, it is said that they do plan on giving fans a lot more options to scour their incredibly extensive achieve of footage.
It is said that we can expect this re-launch around the end of June, however, it was also reported that “late summer” was the target date for the new version of the WWE Network to hit the market.
It is still not confirmed whether this new WWE Network will include a tier system, but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise.
