Kevin Owens joined the New Day last week as an honorary member of the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions. It didn’t take Kevin Owens long to turn at all.

If you want our complete coverage of SmackDown Live this week you can check that out here.

The New Day ended SmackDown Live as Kofi Kingston took on Shinsuke Nakamura in a non-title match. Kofi and Shinsuke fought for about twenty minutes and then Rusev jumped in to interfere and cause the match to end via DQ.

The New Day saved Kofi, but suddenly, Kevin Owens laid in a Superkick to Kofi Kingston. Owens mounted Kofi and beat him down. He picked up the WWE Title and told Kofi that he didn’t deserve it. He said he hopes his kids had a good time because he’s taking the title.

To cap things off, Owens tried to do one of his signature powerbombs on the ring apron, but Xavier Woods tried to save Kofi. So KO powerbombed Woods on the apron instead.

Kevin Owens’ run with the New Day didn’t last long. It looks like Big E was 100% correct about trusting Kevin Owens.

It wasn’t announced on SmackDown Live this week, but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Kevin Owens vs Kofi Kingston is added to Money In The Bank on May 19th.
