Goldust debuted in WWE in 1995 and not counting a small hiatus from the company he was able to maintain and transform that character to remain on WWE television. Now he must say goodbye to the character that is owned by WWE.
Dustin Rhodes requested his WWE release. He was very candid about what his intentions and thoughts were in a statement online, but he also had to bid his Goldust character farewell in the process.
Rhodes released a small video on Instagram that included himself putting his Goldust mask in a chest along with other merchandise from the Bizarre One’s past. This might seem like a sad moment, but sometimes you have to say goodbye before new opportunities can open.
Rhodes is now set to face his brother Cody Rhodes at Double Or Nothing on May 25th. He will be performing as Dustin Rhodes as he left his Goldust persona behind in WWE. It was still a fantastic run that lasted far longer than most could have ever thought when he first started cutting those androgynous promos in 1995.
