Dean Ambrose is exiting WWE after a long run with the company. The Shield’s final match as a faction is set to air on the WWE Network tonight even though Seth Rollins seemed to leave the door open for another run later on.
Dean Ambrose could end up in AEW because they will have interest in him. Then again, Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that he has heard that Ambrose could be considering retiring from pro wrestling.
Meltzer went on to say that his feeling is that WWE is not afraid of losing Ambrose to AEW. Therefore, we might not be seeing Jon Moxley return as we once thought. However, you can never tell Ambrose what to do and if the reasons why he is leaving WWE don’t change then he will select the next stage in his career however he sees fit.
“He’s had so many farewells it’s not even funny […] It’s different. My gut is that they don’t expect him to go to AEW. They expect him to come back and they wanna make it a big deal and when he’s ready to come back he’s happy to come back and the fans see him as a big star.”
“He’s burned out and he’s unhappy. If he’s unhappy then whatever he’s unhappy about probably isn’t going to change. If he’s burned out and needs a rest then he’ll probably come back.”
Dean Ambrose’s next steps will be very interesting and we will be watching them closely. Keep checking back to Ringside News as we are now officially on “Ambrose Watch” as it were.
He could be a big surprise at Double Or Nothing. After all, Dean Ambrose and Renee Young live in Las Vegas which is where the May 25th AEW event takes place. So it wouldn’t be a lot of traveling or risking ruining the surprise by being spotted at an airport en route to Vegas. We will have to wait and see, but the door certainly isn’t closed for a WWE return.
