Sasha Banks reportedly tried to quit WWE following WrestleMania because of several reasons. Now another big explanation is coming out about why she took off. WWE has given her a couple of weeks to think about her decision so she could be back, but Banks was reportedly told she would be making history and those plans might have changed.
Brad Shepard reports at Pro Sports Extra that Saudi Arabia has agreed to let WWE put on one women’s match during their next event in the country. This was after a lot of working on the issue and a ton of criticism for WWE not allowing women to compete in the Saudi Arabia events. It is said this is the reason why WWE has been so allusive when discussing another Evolution event.
Sasha Banks and Bayley were reportedly set to take on Beth Phoenix and Natalya at the next Saudi Arabia event in May. This was said to be one of the biggest reasons why Sasha Banks was upset about losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania.
They were originally scheduled to defend the tag team championships against Natalya and Beth Phoenix, on the Saudi Arabia show. Saudi Arabia’s General Sports Authority has approved one women’s match for the show, which they would’ve been a part of.
It is reported that Sasha Banks and Bayley were told that they would be defending their titles in Saudi Arabia and keeping them “past May.” Therefore, both were under the assumption that they would be holding onto their championships for much longer.
We previously reported via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE’s decision to take the titles off of The Boss n Hug Connection was “not a last minute decision and many people knew about it in the company.” However, they didn’t tell Banks and Bayley about their title loss and breakup until the day of WrestleMania 35.
