It’s been a long road to the top for Kofi Kingston, but now, he finally seems to be basking in the glory of life as the WWE Champion – and his family are, too.
Kofi’s rise to prominence in the last few months couldn’t have been predicted at the short time ago, and in truth, that’s one of the reasons why it felt so special and organic. The 37 year old veteran, who was born in Ghana, has been through a lot over the years, but it feels like this title win has made it all worth it.
Kingston took to social media last night in order to share some really special footage of his family and friends back in Ghana, who were able to celebrate his big WrestleMania triumph.
As you can see Kofi teased the idea of returning to Ghana for the first time in 25 years, which is bound to be one of the highlights of his current WWE Championship run.
Kofi has always been viewed as one of the ultimate underdogs of the main roster, and aside from all of the politics and speculation over how long his reign will last, it’s just great to see him on top of the mountain.
This kind of story just doesn’t seem to come along often enough in professional wrestling, and especially in the WWE, with many calling this the biggest world title win since Daniel Bryan’s crowning moment at WrestleMania 30.
With the Superstar Shake-Up taking place this week, it’ll be interesting to see who emerges as Kingston’s next big challenger.
