Kurt Angle’s in-ring career is over and it is said he will not be wrestling anymore. He had a string of opponents leading up to WrestleMania where he worked his final match, but those opponents were not up to him.

Mike Johnson explained on PW Insider Elite audio that while Angle was probably asked about who he wanted to face the decision was not his to make when it came down to actually booking the show.

“I’m sure they asked him who he would like to wrestle, but at the end of the day it was up to creative and Vince McMahon. Kurt Angle didn’t have the power to pick any matches that he was involved in at the end of the day.”

This is somewhat surprising because it likely means that WWE Creative actually picked Chad Gable for Kurt Angle to wrestle and then proceeded to not push Gable at all. It would be nice to think that Kurt Angle was able to pick all of his opponents, but it is not his company.

If Kurt Angle would have been able to have more of a hand in his farewell tour then he wouldn’t have chosen Baron Corbin as his final opponent. He also would have booked himself to win as he already admitted.

The next night on the Raw After WrestleMania probably wouldn’t have seen Kurt Angle taking a Freak Accident followed by a diving headbutt from a debuting Lars Sullivan either if he could have made that decision.
