Road Dogg is no longer Co-Head Writer of SmackDown Live. However, this was not a rash decision and was the result of mounting frustration over time as amicable of a separation that they might try to paint it as.
It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Road Dogg would make trips to WWE Headquarters and take part in meetings that last until late in evening and into the morning. This was exhausting and Road Dogg was certainly feeling it, but the frustration really came when Vince McMahon would change their ideas on the day of the show after so much work had been put into the blue brand’s episode.
In fact, Road Dogg wasn’t the only one growing frustrated with Vince McMahon because a lot of people are getting really irritated about how McMahon was running the blue brand.
Dave Meltzer expanded on this during Wrestling Observer Radio where he explained Road Dogg’s frustrations even more.
“The show’s being ripped apart and then having ideas and then having ideas being taken out of context.”
Meltzer and WOR co-host Garrett Gonzales noted that they question any writer who tells them their dream job is to work for WWE. It is not an easy place to function and can be full of quick changes which essentially means wasted work because it takes hours if not days to hammer out an angle only to have Vince McMahon come in with his larger-than-life persona and change things.
