As seen on Sky Bet, the betting odds for the proposed UFC Heavyweight Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Daniel Cormier have been released.
This fight has been in the pipeline since last summer, when Brock confronted Cormier in the Octagon after his win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 226. Ever since then fans have been questioning when the showdown might occur, but now, it seems like August could be a realistic timeframe.
Lesnar hasn’t fought since UFC 200 when he ‘defeated’ Mark Hunt, only for the result of the fight to be overturned due to Brock testing positive.
The bookmakers currently have the champion, Cormier, as the 1/3 favourite to retain his championship when the two men eventually square off. Lesnar is the 9/4 underdog to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship for the second time in his career.
Lesnar’s schedule has certainly freed up recently, after he lost the Universal Championship in decisive fashion to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35. There are some rumblings that he could return for the first Saudi Arabia show of the year, but that has yet to be confirmed.
Brock would require at least eight weeks for a solid training camp, especially if it’s DC he’s going to be fighting. With that in mind, a late summer date certainly seems like a realistic possibility.
The initial thought process was for DC/Brock to headline the International Fight Week card, but it seems as if that isn’t the case anymore. Because of that, and because of Lesnar’s star power, we probably shouldn’t be expecting a card that’s quite as stacked as UFC 239.
