John Cena will be around for WrestleMania this year. The only issue is that we’re not 100% sure what kind of match he will be having. Cena has agreed to a match and we have a very good idea what WWE was planning, but you never know if Vince McMahon could have changed his mind once again.
Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that John Cena’s match at Mania is being kept a closely guarded secret. So whatever they are planning is obviously meant to be a surprise.
“The Cena match is being kept a secret. I mean even people who know everything don’t know that one. I mean people internal– internal do know, but I don’t know who it is.”
“It’s not Kurt for sure. He’s got nothing to do with the Kurt match. Kurt is wrestling Baron Corbin unless there’s another guy that’s coming in that we don’t know that’s what it’s gonna be. The idea that Kurt’s gonna be wrestling two matches I don’t even wanna hear that. I don’t even think Kurt should be wrestling on this show […] Kurt should have a nice ceremony with no match.”
We know that John Cena will not be wrestling Kurt Angle and he won’t be in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal either. There are a couple of people that Cena could work with. The Undertaker is out of the picture as well because he is opting to work Saudi Arabia and not WrestleMania.
Although Lars Sullivan is always an option, it might be possible that WWE has something else planned for The Freak that doesn’t involve a match. We will have to wait and see, but it’s important to remember that John Cena is likely to be used in a way where he won’t be available in the upcoming months to continue WWE storylines due to his incredibly busy schedule.
