Johnny Gargano Could Stay In NXT For Another Year

Johnny Gargano was among four top NXT Superstars that WWE called up to the main roster. However, he was seemingly sent back down to NXT following Tommaso Ciampa’s neck injury. Now Gargano is booked in the main event of NXT TakeOver: New York in a 2 out of 3 falls match against Adam Cole for the NXT Title that will go down a week from today.

Gargano’s situation was discussed during PW Insider Elite audio where it was revealed that Johnny might have requested to stay in NXT. This makes him very smart because there is no telling how Vince McMahon would use him on his own.

Mike Johnson also said that it might be a while before Johnny Gargano gets another opportunity to move up from NXT as well. After all, Tommaso Ciampa is said to be out for up to a year due to his neck surgery.

“I heard he’s gonna be there [in NXT] at least until Tommaso comes back.”

Johnny Gargano had a couple of good weeks on the WWE main roster and then all of that changed with Tommaso Cimapa’s injury. We will have to wait and see what WWE’s plan for him is because it was also reported that 205 Live could be Johnny Wrestling’s destination.
