WWE brought up a handful of NXT Superstars recently, but then things were switched around in a big way after Tommaso Ciampa suffered an injury. This was something WWE would have known about if they only asked Triple H, but Vince McMahon acted without consulting The Game.
Mike Johnson noted on PW Insider Elite audio that NXT Superstars are still “eager” to get called up to the main roster. This is in spite of the fact that WWE hasn’t had the best track record in using newer stars from No Way Jose to EC3.
“They wanna make more money. It’s the difference between making $125,000 on NXT’s roster on the top position to making 3, 4, 500,000. Especially with the Fox deal coming.”
WWE’s main roster comes with a boost in pay regardless of how a talent is used. Of course, everyone wants to get proper treatment, but WWE’s main roster is getting crowded as well.
Perhaps some NXT Superstars will find amazing success on the top of the card on RAW or SmackDown, but there is nothing to be ashamed about if you spend a decade sitting as a mid-carder while racking in half a million dollars a year.
