X-Pac opens today’s show by informing that he had a great time guest coaching at the WWE Performance Centre last week. He says it was very cool to see all the moving parts there and to also see Shawn Michaels’ class in action.

He notes that Michaels’ class is not a promo class or an in-ring class, and while not saying exactly what the class is all about, he hints that it’s the “good stuff” where performers learn special skills that help them develop as Superstars.

He says the entire place is such a positive environment. It’s very much a group mentality and everyone works together. When they do live events they all work together to set chairs and put the ring up, and that helps build friendships. He was more than ready to help them too, but they wouldn’t let him help.

He notes that from time to time you can see that a certain performer might think they’re above setting up rings and chairs, but X-Pac thinks that stuff builds character.

When he first got there he went to the ring and Norman Smiley was there training some talents in the ring. Scotty-2-Hotty was there teaching a class as well. X-Pac notes that he wasn’t there to teach anyone specific moves. He didn’t teach any classes; instead he produced some stuff and spent some one-on-one time with young performers. He notes that he tried to teach them his wrestling philosophy, and what to be doing in between the moves.

He was so impressed by the roster there; the NXT crew and the roster at the Performance Centre that hasn’t even made it to television yet.

He was blown away by the new way of training. Today’s performers use a completely different set of techniques instead of just relying on weight lifting. As a result their physiques look different today. Everyone is in great shape, but they don’t look like body builders. Everyone’s training is suited for their body type.

X-Pac notes that he was very disappointed by the fan reactions during the NXT live shows, especially in Florida towns such as St. Petersburg. He notes that maybe they’re booking shows in those towns too often, but he suggests that they look at booking different towns in the future regardless. Either that, or mix in a little “gaga”, because Florida is known for liking a more traditional wrestling show, which is quite different than the typical NXT show.

Overall X-Pac says he was blown away by the entire program there. Matt Bloom is perfect in his role, and it was pretty special to see the way Shawn Michaels interacts with all the trainees there.

X-Pac says he hates the old school mentality of not making friends in the wrestling business. He notes that a lot of great things happened because of the friendships he had with, Michaels, Triple H, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Today, a lot of great things are happening because of the friendship between The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega.

X-Pac says he wasn’t surprised to see A.J. Styles resign with WWE. He’s established now as a top guy in WWE, and regardless of the downside guarantee figure that’s listed on his contract, he’s going to make a lot more money in merchandise sales and PPV payoffs. X-Pac thinks it’s great for Styles, adding that he deserves it.

X-Pac says he can completely understand why people are disappointed with WWE’s choice to put Baron Corbin in Kurt Angle’s final match. He says it just isn’t what people were imagining. He has no idea if this is a swerve leading to a change, but he doesn’t think that’s what WWE is planning here.

He says he “…never gave two f**ks” about the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and it’s pretty amazing that Braun Strowman will be in that match this year. It just goes to show how much things can change from year to year.

X-Pac welcomes Rory Karpf to the show to discuss the passing of Luke Perry.

Karpf informs that he was great friends with Perry, who was a massive wrestling fan. He says Perry was one of the best human beings he’s ever been around. Perry was there for him when he was going through a divorce, the lowest point of his life, and he’ll never forget that.

Perry was actually the person who brought David Arquette to the hospital the night he was cut in a death match a few months ago. He was a fan of wrestling when it mightn’t have been so cool to talk about it.

Karpf feels so sorry for his son, Jungle Boy, who recently signed with AEW. Perry really looked out for his son and always wanted the best for him. Perry was really happy when his son signed with AEW, and Karpf thinks the AEW guys will take care of him moving forward.
