Why Johnny Gargano’s WWE Main Roster Status Remains Uncertain

Johnny Gargano made his WWE main roster debut along with three other top NXT Superstars. However, recent events with Tommaso Ciampa’s neck injury have created quite a tough situation for everyone close to the Psycho Killer. We have to warn you that this article does include big spoilers.

Triple H kicked off the NXT television tapings by addressing what is going to happen to the NXT Title after Tommaso Ciampa’s injury. Goldy is now vacant and a match was decided where Johnny Gargano will battle Adam Cole in a 2 out of 3 falls match at NXT TakeOver: New York.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that as of right now, Johnny Gargano’s status on the main roster is “uncertain.” He is slated for a big match on WrestleMania weekend where he could finally pull down the NXT Title. If this happens then that means NXT needs him and he will be staying. However, Adam Cole could always pick up the title leaving Gargano the freedom to continue with his WWE main roster run.

Gargano hasn’t been featured on the main roster since news broke of Ciampa’s injury. Therefore, it looks like a waiting game right now. However, it should also be noted that Aleister Black and Ricochet are slated to remain on the WWE main roster as well in spite of the fact that they are scheduled for an NXT Tag Team Title match against The War Raiders at NXT TakeOver: New York as well.
