WWE has a lot of reasons why they do things. They rely on what has worked in the past and sometimes they put a fresh coat of paint on it in 2019. Ronda Rousey’s heel turn is no different.
Some fans (and WWE Superstars) were livid at Ronda Rousey’s promo where she said that WWE isn’t real — it’s scripted. This exposure of the business is the kind of thing that used to get people beat up in a locker room or worse, but they never dealt with Ronda Rousey in the territory days.
Dave Meltzer was asked how much of Ronda Rousey’s YouTube tirade was approved by WWE. He had a very simple response that this is all according to the plan which is actually a rehash for a new generation.
“Everything she is doing is part of a plan. I’ve explained the psychology of the plan before. It’s the 180 version of the same thing they tried to do with LT-Bigelow and other companies like NJPW and UWF style did in he past. Sometimes it worked tremendously. Sometimes not.”
Brad Shepard previously reported how happy WWE is with the way Ronda Rousey’s heel turn has gone so far. Therefore, the added attention of her YouTube video probably only excited them further.
We will just have to keep tuning in to see how Rousey’s heel turn continues to evolve on WWE television. Only time will tell because there is probably no way they could get away with showing her YouTube rant during RAW because of all the F-bombs she dropped.
