Tommaso Ciampa is out of action with a neck injury. Now he will require surgery. This is terrible timing for Ciampa, but apparently, there was already a plan for him to get this problem corrected.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that there was already a plan for Ciampa to take time off following NXT TakeOver: New York. As previously reported, Ciampa was dealing with this neck injury for weeks prior to Vince McMahon pulling him on the main roster, but now it looks like all plans for Ciampa are scrapped.

“It was known that he was going to be out after WrestleMania and that was the idea that he was gonna work through, but I guess the situation in the last week must have gotten so bad that they just had to do the surgery now so he’s just pulled from everything.”

Maybe if Vince McMahon would have let Triple H know about the plan to call up four of his top NXT Superstars he could have smartened his father-in-law up that Ciampa has a neck issue.

Either way, it looks like NXT will need to figure out what to do with their championship which also leaves Johnny Gargano’s status in question since he hasn’t wrestled without Ciampa around since his main roster call-up.
