WWE called up four new NXT Superstars just a couple of weeks ago in Ricochet, Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, and Aleister Black. That was only a month after they brought up EC3, Lacey Evans, Heavy Machinery, and Nikki Cross. So far, the previous batch of call-ups has not received the same attention as the newer ones and all of them are still floating from brand to brand.
They need to make a decision as to where these new NXT call-ups are going, but we have been told that they are in no hurry. At this time there is no plan to pick RAW or SmackDown for any of the nine new WWE Superstars until after WrestleMania.
If WWE calls up another top NXT Superstar — or anyone for that matter after WrestleMania then that could complicate things even more. We were told that is “not the plan, but you never know with the Old Man.” That Old Man is of course 73-year-old Vince McMahon who still controls WWE’s creative and is known for his erratic decisions as of late.
WWE needs to freshen up their product so the plan is to feature then new exciting NXT Superstars on a regular basis to make them bigger stars. Tommaso Ciampa’s neck injury really threw a monkey wrench in that situation and we have not received any word as to how WWE might book this situation. However, WWE is considering all options on the table right now.
Of course, Lars Sullivan could always be an X Factor in this situation as well since he was supposed to be called up, but that never ended up actually happening — yet.
