The world of professional wrestling has already changed dramatically since 2019 begun, and it certainly seems like everyone wants a piece of the action – including mixed martial artists.
Bellator is considered to be the second biggest MMA promotion in the United States, and some would argue the world. They’ve played host to a series of professional wrestlers in the past such as Ken Shamrock, Jack Swagger and Bobby Lashley, but now, it seems as if one man could be moving in the opposite direction.
However, he doesn’t have his sights set on WWE just yet – because instead, he wants to test the waters with the brand new All Elite Wrestling promotion.
Chalmers has spoken a few times now about the possibility of moving over into pro wrestling, although this certainly seems like it’d be a quicker schedule shift than many were initially anticipating.
The former reality TV star, who is already one of the most well known fighters in the Bellator organisation, will be fighting in his hometown of Newcastle this weekend when he takes on Corey Browning.
There’s still a long way to go before it could ever become a reality, but between this and Chalmers interacting with Cody Rhodes just a few weeks ago, it definitely feels like the wheels are in motion for something to happen. Who knows – perhaps it’ll all depend on whether or not Chalmers can keep his unbeaten run this weekend.
Either way, it’ll likely be a while before we see him inside the squared circle.
