John Cena didn’t have a match at WrestleMania last year so he bought a ticket for the show and sat in the crowd. Then The Undertaker showed up and squashed him.
It doesn’t seem like Cena is in the same position right now because John isn’t around. He is currently up in Canada shooting a new movie called Playing With Fire.
Mike Johnson was asked about John Cena’s WrestleMania status during PW Insider Elite audio. If Cena can make it back in time then WWE might be able to figure something out. We previously reported that Cena isn’t likely to be at RAW until WrestleMania, so WWE might need to figure something out.
“John Cena is filming his new movie until April 1st in Vancouver British Columbia. That allows him six days to have a match at WrestleMania. It is possible that he will appear I would be shocked if he doesn’t appear whether he has a match or not, I have not heard anything.”
It is very interesting that Johnson said he hasn’t heard anything about a John Cena match when the plan was for him to face Lars Sullivan. That match could be off the table now if it wasn’t mentioned which is what we have heard as well.
Only time will tell if WWE will be able to figure out a new WrestleMania opponent for John Cena. WWE could very well figure out a way to book this match through his absence, but if they are going that direction it might not be time to start that build yet.
