Rusev entered the WWE Universe wearing a loincloth with no wrestling boots on. He continued on like this until he hurt his foot and then his wrestling gear had to change. Now he celebrates Rusev Day every day and he’s having a lot of fun.

The Bulgarian Brute no longer has Lana yelling “Crush!” in a Russian accent because she dropped that part of her character too. Rusev recently spoke to Sportskeeda about his gimmick now and said he’s just being himself at this point.

“I’m always having fun. It’s never been about a good guy or a bad guy. I’ve always been me. And that’s what people don’t understand. Just because I supported Russia before because that was my belief or understanding, that doesn’t mean I was a bad guy.”

“I was just outspoken about what I believe in. And now, instead of Russia, I believe in Rusev Day. And being the best United States Champion I can be. That’s what I believe in.”

“There’s no character. There’s no gimmick. It’s just me.”

Rusev is also the United States Champion even though he or the title wasn’t even on SmackDown Live this week. In fact, his Royal Rumble match against Shinsuke Nakamura was pushed to the kickoff show along with another title match. However, it’s good to know he’s still having fun.
