Roman Reigns had to relinquish the WWE Universal Title on October 22nd, 2018 and even though he hasn’t been gone for long WWE needed to change a lot in a very short time. Losing The Big Dog opened up a huge hole in the roster and WWE’s storylines. However, his name still comes up a lot.
Bryan Alvarez mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that there were a couple of instances on Raw this week where Roman Reigns was mentioned or allusions to his name and character were dropped. This caused Alvarez to question if Roman Reigns will be at the Royal Rumble.
Dave Meltzer had a very interesting response when asked if Roman Reigns is set to show up at the Royal Rumble on Sunday. He didn’t rule it out, but Roman is currently training and was doing so during his recent Hawaii vacation.
“Not that I’m aware of. I mean, I suppose it’s possible. I mean he could come. It’s not like he’s confined to a hospital bed or anything like that. The last I heard he was training in Hawaii so he’s not at home or maybe he is now, but he wasn’t last week.”
There is no timetable for a return of Roman Reigns. If WWE does bring Reigns back, then they need a big match for him. Unless they want to re-write their WrestleMania plans again. Therefore, he might not be coming back to get too physical anytime soon if he does show up. However, we’ve been surprised before.
Roman Reigns comes from a long history of fighters and Samoan warriors. He is capable of some amazing things so you can’t count him out because will power really does help a human’s condition dramatically. Only time will tell what will happen in Phoenix on Sunday, but if The Big Dog’s music strikes in Chase Field, the roof would blow off the building provided one existed.
