Becky Lynch entered the arena to start off SmackDown Live this week and she cut a promo about Asuka and her match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 27th in Phoenix Arizona. The crowd seemed to be with her through much of the promo as she paused for their response, but others weren’t as happy.
Dave Meltzer commented on Wrestling Observer Radio about what he thought about The Man’s opening promo this week. He also seemed to reveal how some people in WWE thought about it as well.
“I thought that the beginning of the Becky Lynch interview was horrible. I thought she was out there pandering. She was doing everything wrong. It got better.”
Bryan Alvarez chimed in and said, “Thank god I’m not alone in this,” to which Meltzer had a very interesting response as he continued.
“Oh you said that? You’re not alone. I promise you that people in WWE thought the same thing.”
Whether or not WWE, Bryan Alvarez, and Dave Meltzer were happy with Becky Lynch’s segment is a moot point because the fans are the ones who can always respond and be a louder voice. Becky Lynch is still set for a big WrestleMania match following the Royal Rumble, but with the unpredicatbility of WWE, it’s anyone’s guess how they will get there.
