Several new Superstars were introduced to the WWE Universe last night on RAW. We already knew that Lars Sullivan is on the way and figured Nikki Cross was coming up soon, but Lacey Evans, EC3, and Heavy Machinery were big surprises.
Some fans would have preferred that WWE really shake things up and bring up a top act like the Undisputed Era. Dave Meltzer touched on WWE’s reasoning for not doing that during Wrestling Observer Radio while he tried to make some sense of WWE’s decision-making process.
“I know there’s probably this thing that, ‘We don’t wanna move the Undisputed Era up because they’re carrying NXT,’ but shouldn’t you be bringing up your most over guys when you wanna shake things up? I mean isn’t that the thing of making new stars?”
It was noted that an act like Heavy Machinery is going to be fun to watch, but they aren’t likely going to set the WWE main roster on fire. EC3, “he may make it” because he has a name from Impact Wrestling, he can cut a promo, and he has a great look, “but the point is he was not the most over guy in NXT.”
It’s interesting how WWE decided to call up people who weren’t already involved in a program leading to NXT TakeOver: Phoenix. Since that card is already booked, it might be hard to call someone up who is slated to perform on that show. Still, it seems like WWE could be giving people new acts just for the sake of bringing in new names.
