WWE has a lot of people they can use at any time they choose. This usage doesn’t have to even be televised either. Sometimes WWE just needs someone to show up at a school and give a motivational speech or simply attend an event. This is why it’s good to have legends they can call on if their current Superstars are busy.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE is set to renew several legends contracts very soon. They typically sign legends to one-year contracts which renew at the beginning of each year.
Rajah is reporting that Vince McMahon “isn’t very keen on letting anyone go” as long as they can keep their deal exclusive.
This is very interesting because there are a couple of places where WWE legends could be of use. Not only can they provide valuable insight backstage, but they can also double as on-screen authority figures.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that WWE is locking down these legends due to the All Elite Wrestling rumors. This is simply a general practice, but it is interesting who they want to sign to exclusive deals.
It was reported that Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Booker T are among the names that the company is trying to lock down. We previously reported that Hulk Hogan was set to sign a new non-wrestling deal with WWE soon. We will keep you updated if we hear any more updates on other names that WWE is going to keep around.
