The professional wrestling world has lost a true Superstar as Dynamite Kid, real name Tommy Billington has passed away at the age of 60-years-old. Today was actually his 60th birthday and while the circumstances surrounding his death are unknown at this time, the entire pro wrestling world is saddened by this news.
Kid wrestled for nearly a decade before arriving in WWF in 1984 where he would become a part of the famous British Bulldogs tag team. The British Bulldogs wrestled their final match as a team in 1988 before Dynamite Kid went to Stampede wrestling and Japan to work for the remainder of his pro wrestling career until his retirement in 1996 where he would have his final pro wrestling match.
In his later years, Dynamite Kid was confined to a wheelchair due to a number of back and leg injuries that he sustained over his pro wrestling career. He remained close friends with Wayne Hart from the legendary Hart family as well.
In 2013, Dynamite Kid suffered a stroke and in 2015 he was part of a lawsuit against WWE surrounding concussions. He was known for his amazing ability to captivate a crowd and tell a story in the ring. Dynamite Kid will forever be remembered as one half of a legendary tag team and so much more.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Dynamite Kid’s family, friends, and fans during this sad time. Please join us in remembering his legacy today.
