Dolph Ziggler has been with WWE for longer than most. During his time with the company, Ziggler has won numerous Championships on both RAW and SmackDown Live. In fact, this year alone has seen Ziggler capture both the RAW Tag Team Championship alongside Drew McIntyre and the Intercontinental Championship.
Ziggler has, on occasion, teased the possibility of leaving WWE to focus on other areas of his life. Over the past few years, Ziggler has done some political work and has also started doing a lot of comedy. Given how WWE views Ziggler right now, the idea of the RAW Superstar leaving the company is not exactly a good one.
Dave Meltzer was asked on Twitter how Ziggler would do on the independent scene, should he choose to leave WWE after his contract expires. This led Meltzer to comment that this would depend on what Ziggler’s mentality is.
If Ziggler views the indies as beneath him, he won’t do well. If he appreciates the opportunity and steps up his game, he could be a star. However, Meltzer believes the odds of him going at this point are low because he likely would’ve gone already if that wasn’t the case.
Ziggler also recently made it to the final of the World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel, to crown the “Best in the World.” This tournament was won by Shane McMahon in a decision that left many fans betrayed and angry.
Time will tell whether Ziggler remains with WWE, though the World Cup tournament and the recent exposure he has had on RAW would suggest he will remain with the company for the foreseeable future.
