Matt Riddle made his big NXT TakeOver debut this past weekend in an extremely short match against Kassius Ohno. Riddle won and started his TakeOver record on the right track, but will he continue that direction?
Although most are happy to see Matt Riddle in WWE, others such as Brad Shepard on the Oh, You Didn’t Know podcast seemed to be detractors.

“Matt Riddle is a very accomplished UFC fighter, there’s no question about that to me, he’s an overrated wrestler.”

Shepard went on to say that it takes a lot more to make up a “wrestler” in WWE because he needs to be a Superstar and a well-rounded one at that. At this point, Riddle is in NXT to grow as a talent and that’s what is going to happen. But eventually, even a Riddle detractor like Shepard acknowledged that the NXT newcomer could be eventually presented in a similar way as Brock Lesnar.

“I think they have a great opportunity to present [Riddle] in a very unique way, similar to Brock but different. They could really make that work. I mean he is a legitimate badass. They could make that work. But it’s all in how you present it and it’s all about how you work around his weaknesses.”

Riddle’s look is different and his charisma is infectious, so there’s little chance that he won’t be largely loved by the WWE Universe. But if I were a betting man Matt Riddle will be a name we’ll be seeing in WWE for years to come, possibly even after Lesnar wrestles his last match which The King Of Bros has said in the past that he wants to be the one to retire Brock from WWE.
